ABOUT ME
I’m Karen,
The creator behind The Frugal Hive.
I am a wife, a mom of 2 teens, and a full-time nurse. I started The Frugal Hive because of my passion for all things saving money. You can sort of call me a personal finance nerd.
But, I wasn’t always that way. When anyone talked about saving or budgeting, I would seriously run for the hills. I had no interest in that kind of talk, and I was content as I could be in my spending habits. I felt that you could only be good with money if you had a lot of it!!
Then the recession of 2008 came, and only now I had a family. That is when everything changed! After a series of poor decisions and not having any type of financial security, we were on the verge of losing everything. And it was by God’s grace that we didn’t.
Shortly after, when we could think straight, we vowed NEVER again! Never would we be so careless with our hard-earned money and live without a plan. We got serious about our finances and signed up for Financial Peace University, a personal finance class by Dave Ramsey. We began the work of paying off debt and taking charge of our money. For once, we saw so clearly that we are to be stewards of the resources God has blessed us with. We are not rich by any means, rather we are content with the things we have and want to share with others how they can be free from the stress and burden of living with debt.
Nowadays, I am on a mission to help other families become empowered to live in financial freedom. I believe that you do not have to live with money stress. With some hard work and grit, you can live free from debt with money in the bank for more than just emergencies. You don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck anymore.
And in case you were wondering, frugal living doesn’t have to be boring and dull. I promise that you don’t have to live on Top Ramen and Mac n Cheese unless you absolutely want to.
I’d love to help you on your financial journey and be your biggest cheerleader along the way. We have all made mistakes with money, some big and some small. My goal for this blog is to be a place where you can find encouragement and hope. This is truly a no judgement zone, and we all have room to learn from each other. If I can help you at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at thefrugalhive@gmail.com
In this together,
Karen
